Set to INXS’ six-time platinum track ‘Kick’ cut with classic AFL commentary, the campaign features star players and backyard legends living the dream moment of kicking the winning goal after the siren.
Seeking to showcase the diversity of footy families across the country, fan footage was gathered of Australians playing the game on backyards, local football ovals and beaches. ‘This Is Us’ taps into the heroic footy moment every young fan dreams of kicking the winning goal after the siren. The campaign features fans from local community football clubs, Auskick and AFL club members who have recreated their own magical moments, showcasing a diverse range of footy families across Australian backyards, local football ovals and beaches. The fan footage has been interspersed with historic “after the siren” footy moments including Malcolm Blight’s torpedo “It’s a big kick, it’s a mammoth kick” to Ashley Mcgrath’s “Miracle on Grass” and the recent spectacular boundary finish by Jack Newnes to seal the win for Carlton last year. AFLW players question traditional expectations of women in season launch campaign January 25, 2021 1:26 As its players continue to break boundaries, the AFLW is celebrating the women pioneering the league in a campaign ahead of its fifth season launch. The campaign film contrasts clips of the AFLW with a voiceover borrowed from Housekeeping Monthly’s ‘The Good Wife’s Guide, 1955’ which describes the expectations held of women at the time. “Remember that a lady must prepare herself.
