Premium Content Subscriber only A man who was arrested by police after attending a birthday celebration at a local nightspot, appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday. The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to contravening a domestic violence order. Police prosecutor Kelvin Boyd read the facts of the man’s case to the court and Acting Magistrate Damian Carroll. There is a current protection order naming the respondent (defendant in the matter) and the aggrieved which specified the respondent cannot follow or approaching within 100 metres of the aggrieved. On May 9, about 12.30am, police attended a nightclub in Gladstone in relation to a man being detained by security for another matter.

Police attended the scene and Hampton was identified by security. She was located 50 metres up the hill, however, due to her intoxication level she was not formally questioned in relation to the matter. Hampton was diverted into the care of her mother after she was involved in a subsequent incident. Police attended the club and obtained CCTV footage of the incident. On March 8, police attended Hampton s address and served her with a notice to appear in court in relation to the incident. Hampton s duty lawyer Jun Pepito said his client had been trying to avoid the man she chased around the car because he had been trying to kiss her all night.

Premium Content Subscriber only A Gladstone man who leapt into a police car after being allegedly assaulted was found to be in possession of a dangerous drug, a court has heard. Lachlan Thomas Hoare, 25, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday to possessing dangerous drugs. Police prosecutor Carl Spargo read the facts of Hoare s case to the court and Acting Magistrate Ron Muirhead. Police observed Hoare crossing back and forth over Goondoon St about 3.20am on February 28, between different groups of people. It was clear to police Hoare was heavily intoxicated, as he was unsteady on his feet and had trouble maintaining his balance while walking.
