A minute later, television news reports from the past year about violence and harassment against Asian-Americans echoed the messages from nearly a century ago. The scene shifted to the voices of a dozen Asian and Pacific Islander students at Stony Brook University. “I have been discriminated against,” one student said, “I have been verbally harassed,” said another. “Because of my racial identity,” they said in unison. Even more voices flooded the presentation, this time expressing words of solidarity with the students and other victims of harassment and violence. ....

(WVIR) - Albemarle County Public Schools are getting ready to welcome many students back to the classroom. It’s been a while for many students, some of whom have not had an in-person learning day since March 2020, but a 6-1 vote by the school board makes it official: the county is moving to Stage 4 on March 15. “We have a directive from the Governor of Virginia to make face-to-face instruction our primary objective, and that’s what we’re doing,” said Superintendent Matt Haas, who recommended the move last week. ....
