This is “heavy trash” week in Greensburg. Heavy trash items will be collected on any given resident’s normal trash day. Items should be set out no more than 24 to 48 hours in advance.
6:30 a.m. – Greensburg Optimist Club meeting in the Decatur County Emergency Management Building (old Washington School). Meeting will include presentation of the Law Officer of the Year Award.
2 to 7 p.m. – Everyone is welcome to attend a drive-thru Jobs Fair at OSL, off the bypass in Greensburg. Four local employers will be in attendance: KB Specialty Foods, One Solution Logistics (OSL), Advanced Bearing Materials (ABM), and NIPRO Pharma Packaging. Milwaukee school board approves plan to reopen schools
Milwaukee Public School Board unanimously approved a plan to begin the phased reopening of schools at their board meeting last Tuesday. The plan allows for 300 special needs students and their teachers to voluntarily return to in-person instruction on February 8. Further, it sets tentative return dates in mid-April for roughly 4,300 teachers and 75,000 students.
Under the proposal, 23,000 Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade students will return on April 12, 32,000 3rd through 8th graders on April 19, and finally 19,000 high school students will return on April 26. A similar tiered reopening schedule was utilized in Chicago and other districts to divide educators and attempt to stifle opposition. In Chicago, Pre-Kindergarten and Special Education teachers were ordered back into the classroom on January 4th while the rest of the district is remote. ....

KENOSHA, Wisc. — Jeanne Hoffman, a staff member within the Kenosha Unified School district, believes she contracted COVID-19 while teaching in-person at school, and ultimately passed it along to her husband, who died from the virus in January.
She is incredibly heartbroken, as anyone could imagine, said Kenosha Education Association President Tanya Kitts-Lewinski. ....
