Desert Hot Springs man convicted of murder for killing landlord DESERT HOT SPRINGS POLICE Albert Marchain A Desert Hot Springs man was convicted today of murder for the stabbing death of his landlord. An Indio jury that heard three days of testimony deliberated 40 minutes before finding Albert Marchain, 29, guilty of first-degree murder for killing 69-year-old Stanislaw Tokarski. Jurors also found true a sentence-enhancing allegation of using a weapon a knife in the commission of a murder. Marchain, who remains in custody at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio, faces up to 56 years to life in state prison. ....

Wayne Eric Boyd, 74, of Sky Valley was sentenced to two years in state prison earlier this month, and remains in county custody at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio pending transport to a state facility. Riverside County Superior Court Judge Albert J. Wojcik declared the mistrial on the second day of jury selection for the trial of Ismael Gaspar of Cathedral City at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta. Gaspar, who remains free on $55,000 bail, is scheduled to return to court at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on April 1, where a new trial date could be set. ....
