Hosps divided over ICMR guideline to withdraw plasma therapy | Ranchi News


Jamshedpur/Ranchi: Prominent Covid-19 hospitals in Jharkhand are a divided lot over the Indian Council of Medical Research’s (ICMR) advisory on withdrawing plasma therapy.
While Jamshedpur-based Tata Main Hospital (TMH) stopped providing patients with the therapy from Tuesday, Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) has sought an opinion for its expert committee to plan its future course of action.
“Adhering to the ICMR advisory, issued on Monday late evening, we have stopped providing plasma therapy to Covid-19 patients admitted in our hospital from today (Tuesday),” Dr Rajan Chaudhary, advisor (medical services) to TMH, told TOI.
The ICMR had recommended scrapping of plasma therapy from the current treatment protocol of Covid-19 patients stating that it has no significant benefits on the treatment. TMH is the largest hospital treating Covid-19 patients in East Singhbhum and the entire Kolhan division. ....

JAMSHEDPUR/RANCHI: East Singhbhum and Ranchi, which have been worst hit by the second wave of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, has begun scouting for spaces to set up institutional quarantine centres for returning migrant workers.
With lockdown in many states triggering a reverse migration of the workers, East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Suraj Kumar has directed the district officials to identify buildings which can be readied as quarantine centres. Nearly 6.2 lakh migrant workers returned to Jharkhand during the lockdown last year.
The state government has recently made it mandatory for all returning migrant workers to undergo Covid-19 tests upon arrival and stay at quarantine centres for a week if they test negative in Rapid Antigent Test (RAT). ....

Many state students score over 99 percentile in JEE (Main) | Ranchi News


Jamshedpur/Ranchi: Several students from Jharkhand cracked the JEE (Main) 2021 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the results of which were declared on Monday night.
In Jamshedpur, Yash Kumar of Carmel Junior College, Sonari, made his parents and the teachers proud by scoring 99.95 percentile. Son of Tata Steel employee Ashok Kumar and teacher Binu Singh, Yash said he studied eight hours daily ahead of the exams.
Another student from the Steel City, Sameer Anand of Jusco School South Park, scored 99.83 percentile. About 6,000 aspirants from the city had appeared for the exam and over 800 plus candidates performed well.
In Ranchi, Vatsal Jain of Jawahar Vidya Mandir Shyamli scored 99.94 percentile while Tanisha Salvi of the same school scored 99.83. The school administration said 185 students qualified for the examination out of whom eight scored above 99 percentile. ....

Coaching centres demand reopening, Banna vows to help | Ranchi News


Jamshedpur/Ranchi: With the government yet to allow coaching centres to operate in the state, owners of 35 private tuition centres sat on a protest at Aam Bagan in Sakchi area of Jamshedpur on Saturday. Although many sectors have been allowed to resume operations, coaching centres have remained locked since the nationwide lockdown was imposed in March last year.
Agitating under the banner of Jamshedpur Coaching Sangh, the owners demanded private tuition centres to be allowed to reopen as “they are cash-strapped”. Meanwhile, state health minister Banna Gupta assured them that he will take up the matter with chief minister Hemant Soren. ....
