Bokaro: Trickling work orders from Bokaro Steel Plant is rendering many industrial units of Bokaro sick, entrepreneurs on Friday told Soma Mandal, chairman of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on Friday.
They also said Bokaro is losing its glory of being a prosperous industrial town of the state. Mandal along with director, technical Harinand Rai had arrived on Thursday on a two-day visit to BSL plant which ended on Friday. On her last day of the visit, Mandal along with the director in-charge of BSL Amarendu Prakash met the delegation of Bokaro Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
Though the BSL plant is performing well in terms of production and profit, but outside the plant, the condition of MSME’s and other industrial development activities are affected in lack of support of the steel major. Industrialists said the units are starving in lack of adequate work orders. Most of the units have become sick.
Jamshedpur: In an effort to ramp up the pace of Covid-19 vaccination drive, the East Singhbhum administration has allowed healthcare and front-line workers to walk into their nearest vaccination centre and take their jabs without waiting for their turns.
Dr Sahir Pal, the additional chief medical officer (ACMO) of East Singhbhum, said beneficiaries will have to show their ID proof at the vaccination centres and if their names are found in the database of the Co-WIN portal, they would be administered the vaccine. “The beneficiaries will not have to wait for their turns to get vaccinated,” Pal added.
Earlier, health and front-line workers were being asked to report at the vaccination sites via text messages through the Co-WIN portal. However, a low turnout forced health officials in the district to change the norms.
JAMSHEDPUR: Even before a brick could be laid for the construction of an airport in Dhalbhumgarh, a section of villagers have opposed it, with the gram sabha of Devshol village holding a meeting on Sunday to oppose the government proposal to acquire 24 acre land for the construction, which may prove to be a boon for air connectivity between Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha.
The airport will connect the industrial belt of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, Kharagpur in West Bengal and Balasore in Odisha, experts believe. The proposed site is quite close to NH-33 and has a railway station near it which makes it all the more accessible for all.
