KiwiRail's freight centre plans could exceed its legal powers


Through lawyer Phernne Tancock, they said the hearing should not go ahead unless KiwiRail could prove it had the legal right to continue.
Tancock said the issue “may render it inappropriate for the (hearing) panel to continue down the current flight path towards a hearing on 9 August”.
“Parties should not be put through a lengthy hearing if the legality of the notice of requirement is in question.”
Fox said both he and the city council had asked KiwiRail to provide the legal opinion that it did have the power to designate land for the project.

Students at Glasgow colleges to get rapid coronavirus tests

STUDENTS and staff are now able to take part in rapid testing at city colleges.
More than 100,000 lateral flow testing kits have been handed out to further education institutions. People are being encouraged to take tests twice weekly as on-campus learning and teaching returns.
Photography student John Masson, 46, from Glasgow said: “I was surprised that these tests will be available and to so many – I think it is a good thing as it gives you and people around you some reassurance and confidence.
“It has been a difficult year being away from my classmates and if using these tests means that we can work together again I am all for it. ....

The shepherd of the Philadelphia Archdiocese got to know the youth of his flock Monday, April 26 as Archbishop Nelson Perez toured Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield, Delaware County for a pastoral visit.
The 400 students present, along with faculty and staff, were about half the total student enrollment due to the A/B scheduling of hybrid instruction offered by archdiocesan schools during the COVID pandemic. But even those students at home participated in the liturgy via livestream video from the school’s gymnasium. ....
