WILMINGTON Henry Alexander “Hank” Phillips, 84, died peacefully at home from complications of prostate cancer Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
Hank was born July 14, 1936, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Dr. Henry Phillips Jr. and Katharine Harris Phillips and was a native of Exeter, New Hampshire. He was known as “Sandy” while growing up in Exeter, in college and during his military service.
Hank graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1955 with honors. He was a varsity athlete and class correspondent for 16 years. He was a director of the General Alumni/ae Association and a member of the school’s Heritage Circle.
Hank earned a B.A. Degree in Liberal Arts, majoring in French literature, from Haverford College, Haverford, Pennsylvania, in 1959. He was a member of Haverford’s Beta Rho Sigma Society and Jacob P. Jones Society. He captained varsity cross-country teams at Exeter and Haverford. He attended Camp Mowglis on Newfound ....

Hockey Hall of Fame broadcaster Mike Emrick recalls his days as the voice of the original Maine Mariners in an autobiography that was published in October, one day after he announced his retirement. A documentary about his life and career aired on NBC on Feb. 21.

Pats top pick Bedard skating with Kelowna BCHL team until WHL resumes

Regina Pats first overall pick Connor Bedard will be skating with the British Columbia Hockey League’s (BCHL) West Kelowna Warriors, while awaiting word on when the Western Hockey League (WHL) season will begin.
In an announcement on the team website, the Pats said Bedard will train and practice in West Kelowna until training camp plans have been finalized.
“This opportunity allows Connor to stay in top shape and come to our training camp ready. We look forward to having Connor in Regina soon, as we prepare for the WHL season,” Pats VP of Hockey Operations and General Manager John Paddock said. ....

Struch eager to blow the whistle and start shortened WHL season

The last time the Regina Pats were on the ice was March 13 when they lost at home to the Winnipeg Ice.
A game scheduled for two nights later was cancelled due to COVID-19 and you know the rest of the story.
On Friday, the WHL announced the plan is to play a shortened 24-game season starting sometime next month after  a plan  is given final approval from health authorities in each provincial and state jurisdiction. It is anticipated the approvals will be received soon.
Pats Head Coach Dave Struch knows the season isn’t much, but it is better than anything.  He says it is more about player development than wins and losses. ....
