Apr 15, 2021 4:01 PM EDT When the coronavirus pandemic hit last year, Ellen Wormser’s work as a nurse-midwife for Fair Haven Community Health Care, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Connecticut, changed significantly. Gone were the sort of family scenes that Wormser said she was accustomed to seeing in delivery rooms before COVID-19, when women giving birth often had a number of people cheering them on. Wormser said she saw many of her colleagues don PPE to assist COVID-positive women in labor, often spending hours face-to-face with them. “I was scared for all of us but everybody went and did their job,” Wormser said. “We were so anxiously awaiting a vaccine because we knew that that would turn the corner in allowing patients to come in and get the care that they need.”

District 27 approves Michigan administrator as its new superintendent Dr. John Dieter   Updated 3/11/2021 12:08 AM The Northbrook School District 27 Board of Education on March 3 unanimously approved Dr. John Dieter as its next superintendent. Dieter will officially start on July 1. Hired after a national search process, he will succeed Dr. David Kroeze, who will retire June 30 after nearly three decades of leading the district.   Dieter most recently served 10 years as superintendent of DeWitt Public Schools in DeWitt, Michigan. Before serving at DeWitt, Dieter was principal six years for Belding Area Schools and spent two years as an assistant at Iona Public Schools, both in Michigan. He also has six years of classroom teaching experience.

With support of the Stewardship Education Alliance (S.E.A.) – a year-old nonprofit with the mission of increasing community awareness of ways to be better stewards of local watersheds – students, teachers and communities are benefitting from grants for special projects, activities and professional development.
