A settlement agreement of more than $12 million in damages from the 2020 Zogg Fire was announced on Wednesday. Attorneys for Shasta and Tehama counties reached the agreement with the utility Pacific Gas and Electric after findings that their equipment sparked the fire.
Five more creditors pile in with claims against online payment platform.
The High Court at Auckland has placed online payments platform NF Global in the hands of liquidators after the company and its overseas shareholder failed to pay existing creditors almost $17 million.
And that debt is increasing, with at least five more international creditors coming out of the woodwork claiming they too are owed money.

A survey of practioners and members by Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (RITANZ) indicated the numbers of appointments of liquidators for January and February at the lowest levels in three years. This suggests there may be a number of zombie businesses continuing to operate with the help of government funding, but we may see a number of liquidations in the coming years for those that are unable to repay their debts, RITANZ chair John Fisk said. And that s a problem for our economy because essentially we know that they are eventually going to fail and usually once they do, the debts are higher than they would have been otherwise, and also they end up taking business away from good businesses.
Springfield s council meeting Monday night was full of heartfelt goodbyes and excited hellos as new council members took their seats on the city s governing body.
During the meeting, outgoing General Seat A Councilwoman Jan Fisk and Zone 1 Councilwoman Phyllis Ferguson passed the torch to Heather Hardinger and Angela Romine, who officially began their four-year terms with a council lunch meeting Tuesday.
Fisk and Ferguson also gave speeches thanking the volunteer council, city staff and all the residents of Springfield.
Fisk highlighted several projects she was proud to support during her nine years as a councilwoman, including the development of Rountree s pocket neighborhood, the revitalization of downtown institutions like the Heer s Building and History Museum on Park Central Square, the blighting and subsequent development of Bear Village and all the new grocery stores and markets that have come to town.
