Jackson Local school board approves COVID-19 Appreciation Pay

  – Roughly 660 employees will receive a one-time bonus in the following amounts: Active certified and administrative staff will receive $2,000. Superintendent Christopher DiLoreto and Treasurer Linda Paris will not receive the bonus.  Classified employees will receive $1,000. Part-time employees will receive $500. Another Stark County school district, Osnaburg Local, gave its employees a $500 bonus late last year. Jackson school officials said Tuesday the bonus pay, which totals $1.02 million, is possible because expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic can be offset by the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds from the American Recovery Plan that Congress approved. The district has received $6.3 million in federal coronavirus relief funds, which also have been used for cleaning, contact tracing, technology, help with student learning loss, heating and ventilation upgrades and continuity of food service.
