Roughly 660 employees will receive a one-time bonus in the following amounts:
Active certified and administrative staff will receive $2,000. Superintendent Christopher DiLoreto and Treasurer Linda Paris will not receive the bonus.
Classified employees will receive $1,000.
Part-time employees will receive $500.
Another Stark County school district, Osnaburg Local, gave its employees a $500 bonus late last year.
Jackson school officials said Tuesday the bonus pay, which totals $1.02 million, is possible because expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic can be offset by the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds from the American Recovery Plan that Congress approved.
The district has received $6.3 million in federal coronavirus relief funds, which also have been used for cleaning, contact tracing, technology, help with student learning loss, heating and ventilation upgrades and continuity of food service.

JACKSON TWP. During the regular meeting on Dec. 12, the Jackson Local Schools Board of Education approved sending a resolution of necessity for a substitution emergency levy to the Stark County Auditor s Office to verify the millage and the amount the levy will generate and the cost to homeowners.
The 5.7-mill levy will be placed on the May 2021 ballot. It is a replacement for a levy that is currently in place which expires in May. The substitution emergency levy would run for five years if passed by taxpayers.
“The substitution levy will not generate any new taxes, it would replace the levy in place now,” said the district’s treasurer Linda Paris.
