Pro-Palestinian Pensacola community passionately condemns Israel-Palestine violence
Dania Kalaji, Pensacola News Journal
In a deafening chant, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered in peaceful solidarity at the Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza in downtown Pensacola on May 22.
In the two weeks since, the University of West Florida Muslim Student Association members who led and organized the demonstration have only strengthened their commitments.
Although MSA President Emen Sukhera is a young Pakistani student, she recognizes the power of her voice as an American and strives to raise awareness on the role she believes the U.S. plays in the persistent injustices affecting Palestinian people. ....

Determined to improve, Florida’s state and local elections professionals have built an exemplary system. “Fraud” of any kind is exceedingly rare. When other swing states were mired in slow counting, most of Florida’s 2020 results appeared within hours thanks to efficient and reliable counting systems. ....

Escambia County quality of life poll shows acceptance of diversity

Pensacola News Journal
When Harold Griffin Jr. began building the family business, he wasn t thinking about the fact that it was 100% minority-owned or that his employee count would eventually become almost all women or minorities; he just wanted to provide good customer service.
His company, ITL Solutions, provides non-emergency transportation, such as taking patients to doctors appointments, work, school or certain recurring treatments like dialysis. Griffin, who is Black, has seen some barriers due to race, but has also seen huge successes in the community s view of diversity in the last decade and is hoping others keep pushing to have the difficult conversations that propel a community forward. ....
