The state government has been repeatedly knocking at the doors of the Centre to hike its supply CHANDIGARH: As Covid-19 active cases touched 74,343 in Punjab on Sunday, hospitals across the state are gasping for oxygen. Punjab’s medical oxygen allocation is 227 metric tonnes (MT) per day against its existing requirement of 295MT, which is increasing by almost 50MT in a week. A total of 296 critically-ill Covid patients were on ventilator support across Punjab on Sunday and 9,384 patients were on oxygen support. Amid soaring demand for medical oxygen every day, the state government has been repeatedly knocking at the doors of the central government to increase its supply to save precious lives.

2 found dead in separate cases

238 Zirakpur: Two persons were found dead in separate incidents in Zirakpur. In Pabhat, a 22-year-old youth, Aradhya, hanged himself to death at his rented accommodation. The police said the youth was in distress due to some job-related issue. No suicide note was found on him. In another incident, a 32-year-old married man was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his rented accommodation in Saini Vihar, Baltana. The deceased has been identified as Pradeep Kumar, who was into property-related business. The cause of death would be known after the autopsy, the police said. TNS Stone laid for no-fee hospital Mohali: The Sohana Hospital Trust will set up a 100-bed hospital in Mohali where no fee would be charged. Chairman of the Trust Bhai Davinder Singh laid the foundation stone of the project. He said there would be no cash counters at the hospital and patients would be charged no fee.
