Circa cast outstanding in powerful family drama 'Things I know to be True'

Matriarch Fran (played with brusque charm by Lara Macgregor) is quickly on the phone to all the other siblings. Despite Rosie’s protests of not being ready to talk about it, Fran tells each of them to come over, “something’s happened”. The feeling of being known by someone so well, while they don’t listen to a word you say may remind some of their own parent/child relationships.
Mark (beautifully played by Jthn Morgan) has recently broken up with his girlfriend of three years, Pip (an emotive Heather O’Carroll) is a career woman married with two kids and Ben (sharply performed by Daniel Watterson) is a fast paced, successful young man. ....

It’s time for Mattie Baker (Lily Harper) to leave home and go to college, and Mattie’s mum (Trudy Pearson) is helping her pack. Or rather, she is doing the packing while the energetic and easily distracted Mattie is zooming around in a cape, listening to songs and playing with her imaginary friends (Michiel van Echten and Mycah Keall). In the end the only thing she tries to pack is a lifesize cutout of Shane from Westlife.
As many mothers of a teenage girl would attest, “most of my life is talking to doors.” But Mattie and her Mum are a couple of smart cookies, and their connection and sense of humour is obvious. The second youngest of six, Mattie is the last to leave home and her Mum is taking a trip down memory lane, while folding socks and searching for clean underwear. ....

It’s surreal to watch a story based on something you were a part of. Most of the opening night’s crowd were part of the team of 5 million, that watched and waited anxiously in the lead up to and execution of the level 4 lockdown. You don’t often get that personal connection to the performance as an audience member.
Based on 20 hours of interviews with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson and leading epidemiologist Michael Baker, these are their words, verbatim. ....

Fringe show 'Love and Roses' has charm, but untimately unfulfilling

Isabella arrives for her dinner date, and engages with a disembodied and varied robotic voice. “What do you do?” “A job”, “What music are you into?” “A genre.” A good mechanism for showing the banality and repetition of small talk, it’s what I think Tinder must be like.
Breaking out of this with internal monologues, this is where we see Isabella’s anxiety over her choices, ordering a beer makes her a cool girl, but wine is romantic. More and more during these interludes, it seems like she’s trying to solve a puzzle.
She is single and alone, but not sure that she is lonely. At 23 years old and with all her friends in relationships she bemoans, “Why does everyone act like they have an answer that they just don’t want to tell me.” This puzzle is more complicated than it first seems, with mention of being asexual or aromantic. Obviously Isabella is trying to figure some stuff out. ....
