Tawi Trekkers J&K holds one day trek

JAMMU, Feb 15: Keeping its policy of promoting heritage sites and lesser frequented beauty spots of Jammu, Tawi Trekkers J&K organized a day long trek of Devi Pindian for girls under the leadership of Sonam Sidharth.
The group of 114 participants including 102 girls was flagged off from Kala Kendra Jammu by co- chairman of Tawi Trekkers J&K, Zorawar Singh Jamwal. President of the Club Ram Khajuria and along with others office bearers also accompanied the trekkers.
The budding trekkers were pleasantly surprised when Everester Rajiv Sharma of Udhampur who climbed Everest about 27 years back in 1993 also joined them for the trek at Manthal along with his wife and daughter Himika, an international skier. The young trekkers were thrilled to learn so much about mountaineering and mountains during their interaction with the veteran mountaineer.
Mountaineering training camp inaugurated

JAMMU, Jan 11: Indian mountaineering sport climbing training camp, organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K under the aegis of Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee New Delhi was inaugurated at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in the premises of Sprawling Buds ICSE School Bantalab, here today.
The camp was inaugurated by by former MLA Ashwani Sharma in the presence of Prof Lalit Magotra, president Dogri Sanstha Jammu; Zorawar Singh Jamwal president and Sumit Khajuria vice president of Mountaineering Association of J&K; Rahul Sharma chairman Sprawling Buds ICSE School Bantalab, Arti Sharma, Principal Apple Kids Bantalab and Mridhu Padha Vice Principal, St. Xavier Sr. Secondary School Barnai.

JAMMU, Dec 12: Tawi Trekkers J&K in collaboration with Directorate of Tourism Jammu organised short trek from Panthal to Devi Pindian, near the holy town of Katra on the occasion of ‘International Mountain Day’.
The motive of short trek was to aware people about the importance of mountains wherein a group of 22 members including five girls participated.
The group led by Vivek Chauhan, Principal of Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School Jammu was flagged off by Neelam Khajuria, Joint Director Tourism Jammu in presence of Ambika Bali, Assistant Director Tourism.
Both the officers also participated in the day long trek.
