Longtime Glendale Heights president takes election fight to federal court Linda Jackson
Updated 5/6/2021 6:02 PM
Glendale Heights on Thursday night was poised to swear in a new village president for the first time in more than 20 years.
But the election that made Chodri Khokhar village president is not over in the eyes of two other candidates, including the longtime incumbent, Linda Jackson.
Mike Ontiveroz has requested a partial recount of the official results from the April 6 election that show Khokhar defeating him by only two votes.
And Jackson, who had served as village president since 1999, has filed a federal lawsuit after her reelection bid was cut short because the Illinois Supreme Court removed her name from the ballot.

Appellate court puts Glendale Heights candidate back on ballot
Updated 3/9/2021 5:28 PM
Glendale Heights voters will have a choice of four people to be the next village president after all.
The Illinois 2nd District Appellate Court ruled Monday that Chodri Khokhar should be put back on the April 6 ballot.
In January, the village s electoral board considered a resident s challenge to the election petitions Khokhar submitted. The challenger, Matthew Corbin, argued Khokhar did not have enough signatures because, Corbin contended, some of the signatures were invalid. The board disagreed, saying the DuPage County clerk s office had reviewed the signatures in question and determined enough of them were valid, and that Corbin had not presented evidence showing the clerk s office was incorrect.

Glendale Heights village president, one opponent survive ballot challenge Linda Jackson
Updated 2/19/2021 9:24 PM
Longtime Glendale Heights Village President Linda Jackson gets to stay on the April 6 ballot, as does opponent Ed Pope.
However, a third candidate for the seat, Chodri Khokhar, has been removed.
Thursday, DuPage County Judge Bonnie Wheaton denied a request to overrule the decisions of the village s electoral board regarding Pope and Jackson.
Matthew Corbin had objected to the nomination petitions of Jackson, Pope and Khokhar, saying they had not collected enough signatures and should be taken off the ballot. The electoral board refused to do so.
