SOUTH ROYALTON – Carder Stratton tossed a complete-game gem to lead the White River Valley baseball team in a 9-0 win over visiting Green Mountain on Saturday.
Stratton struck out 11 while allowing no walks and scattering seven hits for the undefeated Wildcats. Stratton also helped his own cause at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
“Carder threw very well today. He competed all day and put the team in a great spot to win,” WRV coach Devin Cilley said. ....

A PENARTH poet has been tasked with bringing to life Wales’ Well-being of Future Generations Act says she wants to bring hope and inspire joy.
Taylor Edmonds is today announced as the Future Generations Commissioner Sophie Howe’s new poet-in-residence, as the world marks Earth Day 2021.
The Well-being of Future Generations Act puts a responsibility on public bodies, including Welsh Government, to take action that will not only benefit people today, but people not yet born.
It requires policymakers to think about the long-term impact of their decisions, work better with people, communities, and each other, and to prevent persistent problems such as poverty, health inequalities and climate change. ....

A Basic Income trial could be coming soon to Wales | BIEN — Basic Income Earth Network

Over two thirds of Wales is in favour of a basic income trial in the country. The poll, carried out by Survation and commissioned by Sophie Howe, Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, included over a thousand respondents.
Ahead of the country’s general election in early May, Future Generations is pressuring the Welsh government towards implementing more progressive measures destined to protect the economic and labor interests of the younger generations of the country, which have been remarkably affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Among these policies they included a petition to start a basic income trial.
According to Howe, a basic income could be highly beneficial for the Welsh. Howe states that a basic income could successfully address the issues that the welfare stated has failed to tackle (increase in poverty, automation and unstable jobs).
