The Sinn Féin councillor raised the issue at the Dundalk JPC meeting
A Dundalk councillor has called on Louth County Council to clear overgrowth in the district park in Muirhevnamor, that provides cover for drug taking and dealers.
Sinn Féin s Kevin Meenan highlighted the issue at the recent Dundalk Joint Policing Committee meeting.
Director of Services Paddy Donnelly said they would look finding a long term solution and suggested that might entail including the area in question, in the grounds of the football pitch to keep it secure.

Councillor Kevin Meenan has called for alleyways in Muirhevnamor to be removed in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour.
The local Sinn Fein councillor said: “I have been raising the issue of alleyways and open spaces for quite a while.
“The alleyways and open spaces in Muirhevnamor are congregating spots and getting them designed out would cut down on anti-social behaviour.
“The estate is 30 to 40 years old and these alleyways should have been designed out long ago.
“it is not rocket science; it is simple enough engineering thing to do. ....

Concern over antisocial behaviour at historic Old Abbey

There are serious concerns that one of Drogheda s most historical areas is being ravaged by vandalism, neglect and antisocial behaviour.
The Old Abbey Lane, which houses the ruins of The Abbey of St Mary d Urso, is the site of frequent antisocial behaviour, illegal drinking and skateboarding, as well as extensive damage having been done to the ancient walls from the former monastery.
Cllr Joanna Byrne raised her concerns at the lack of action to protect this site as the recent council meeting, calling for signage to strengthen the job of the local gardai in tacking the issue.
The situation is getting worse, with youths gathering every weekend there now, drinking and socialising, as well as skateboarding, as they say they are being pushed from the faciltity they have, said Cllr Byrne. Since July, I have been calling for anti-drinking signage, which the gardai say is necessary before they can move people on there. ....
