Parsons and HLB Lighting Design Partner with Selma Center on National Historic Landmark News provided by Share this article Share this article CENTREVILLE, Va., April 26, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Parsons Corporation (NYSE: PSN) announced today that it s working with the Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth, and Reconciliation on a new architectural lighting design and installation for the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama. Parsons will work with HLB Lighting Design to deliver this pro-bono project to illuminate the structure s regional and cultural importance as a National Historic Landmark. Spanning the Alabama River, the Edmund Pettus Bridge is a civil rights landmark, known as the site of Bloody Sunday on March 7, 1965, when Alabama state troopers attacked civil rights advocates crossing the bridge as they marched to Montgomery to win the right to register to vote. ....
Alabama News Updated: A list of virtual events is being offered to people in Selma and throughout the area to mark the national holiday honoring the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On Monday, January 18, Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Selma along with the Black Belt Community Foundation and the Selma Center for Nonviolence Truth and Reconciliation will present two events. The first is a winter clothing giveaway at the BOSCO Nutrition Center/Edmundite Mission, located at 1107B Griffin Avenue in Selma. It will start at 11:30 a.m. and run while supplies last. At 5:30 p.m., “Dream 2030: Making Dr. King’s Dream of a Beloved Community Our Reality” will be presented as a Zoom and Facebook Live event. Alabama News Updated: From the West Alabama Newsroom– A project to address the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy and education is giving away free money. The Selma Center for Non-Violence, Truth and Reconciliation is giving away $100 gift cards to people this Friday. Ainka Jackson is the executive director at the center. “We will be giving out $15,000 dollars worth of gift cards to parents to hear their experience about virtual learning about what they want to see happen with the education of their children in the Dallas County Public Schools and the Selma City Public Schools,” she said. ....
