By Leslie Gartrell CELINA - A Celina man died early Saturday morning when his car crashed into a house shortly after a brief chase with the Celina Police Department. Chad R. Rammel, 33, Celina, died after his car drove off the right side of the roadway near 4001 Mud Pike Road slightly after 4 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Rammel s vehicle struck a fence, a tree and a house before overturning and striking a Ford SUV in the driveway, according to the release. The vehicle came to rest on its top, and Rammel was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release. A trooper with the Wapakoneta Post on Sunday night said a hole was left in one of the walls of the home. ....

Mercer Heroin Interdiction Team makes several arrests CELINA The Mercer County Heroin Interdiction Team made five drug-related arrests Tuesday during a detail focused on individuals and locations suspected of using, selling and transporting the use, sale and transport of narcotics. The HIT team is made up of members of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Celina Police Department and Coldwater Police Department. In addition to the drug arrests the HIT Team made a total of 11 traffic stops and issued five traffic citations Tuesday. Arrested and charged with fifth-degree felony counts of possession of methamphetamine were Amanda Hatfield, 42, of Celina; Amber Archer, 36, of Celina; Christopher Boop, 40, of Lima; and Lati Hiram, 37, of Celina. Their bonds were all set at $50,000. ....
Woman jailed on arson charge following Celina fire Lovelace CELINA A Mercer County woman was charged with aggravated arson and assault following a fire Thursday evening in Celina. According to Chief Doug Wolters of the Celina Fire Department, firefighters and Celina police responded shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday to a residential fire at 513 E. Anthony St. Upon their arrival firefighters observed smoke coming from under the eaves of the home and quickly determined that all occupants of the dwelling were safe. One resident of the home, Renee D. Lovelace, 43, was in an agitated stated and as officers tried to speak with her and calm her down she suddenly lashed out at one officer and slapped him, said Celina Police Chief Thomas Wale. Lovelace was booked into the Mercer County jail on felony charges. Further charges could be forthcoming pending review by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, officials said. ....
