Colchester approves purchases, hires part-time officer

COLCHESTER The Colchester City Council approved several purchases on Tuesday night for improvements around the city as well as the hiring of a part-time police officer.
In a fast-moving meeting on Tuesday, the council approved the purchase of a computer and docking station for a squad car for a total not to exceed $4,500. The council also approved the payment of officers for attending Active Shooter Trainings in Macomb and approved the purchase of an Active Trainer Kit. The council also looked forward to 2021 when they will hire a part-time police officer who currently works in Macomb with WIU and the hospital. Alderman Tim Smith said that the officer will start sometime after Jan. 1. ....
