This week, Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) announced the formation of his Senate Select Committee on Cybersecurity and Identity Theft Prevention. The select committee is a response to a record number of cyberattacks and threats to our cybersecurity in recent years, including the nationwide Accellion file transfer appliance data breach in late 2020, which significantly impacted the University of California community. This new committee will study and make legislative recommendations regarding threats, preparedness and emerging technologies associated with cybersecurity as well as data privacy and protecting Californians from the dangers of identity theft.

Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) announced his Senate Bill (SB) 264, which would end the sale of ammunition, guns and ghost guns on state-owned property, passed out of the Assembly Public Safety Committee. If signed into law, SB 264 would effectively put a stop to most gun shows on county fairgrounds.
“I’m proud our gun violence prevention bill passed out of the Assembly Public Safety Committee today,” Min said. “Study after study shows more guns in our communities lead to more gun violence. Gun shows not only increase the presence of guns in our communities but also circumvent gun safety laws and encourage the sale of ghost guns gun precursor parts that are virtually untraceable for law enforcement.
Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) announced his Senate Bill (SB) 374, which adds “reproductive coercion” to the definition of domestic violence, passed the Assembly Floor today. Reproductive coercion is defined by this bill as excessively pressuring the other party to become pregnant, deliberately interfering with access to reproductive health information or using coercive tactics to control pregnancy outcomes.
“I’m proud that my bill, which adds ‘reproductive coercion’ to the definition of domestic violence, passed the Assembly floor today,” Min said. “Across the nation, women’s reproductive rights are under attack, and we must be a beacon of hope in California. This bill creates first-in-the-nation protections for survivors of reproductive coercion, making it easier to obtain a domestic violence restraining order. Many thanks to my Assembly colleagues for supporting this important issue.”
