Employees of 58 selected federal entities draw higher salaries

ISLAMABAD: In a serious distortion of the basic pay scale scheme, government servants belonging to 58 entities draw extra allowances and, in some cases, their salaries are two to three times higher than those of ordinary government servants.
Interestingly these entities include authorities like the President’s Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office, the National Assembly, Senate Secretariat and all the superior courts which according to their mandate are supposed to ensure fair play, equality and merit.
In a recent notification issued by the Finance Ministry for the grant of a Disparity Reduction Allowance at the rate of 25 percent of the basic pay scales to civil employees in BS-20-22 of the federal government, the ministry listed the names of those 58 entities whose employees are already drawing extra allowances. ....

اسلام آباد (انصار عباسی) بنیادی پے اسکیل میں سنگین بگاڑ پیدا ہوگیا ہے اور 58؍ اداروں سے تعلق رکھنے والے ملازمین اضافی الائونس وصول کر رہے ہیں اور کچھ معاملات میں تو ایسا بھی ہے کہ یہ ملازمین عام سرکاری ملازمین کے مقابلے میں دو سے تین گنا زیادہ تنخواہیں لے رہے ہیں۔
دلچسپ بات یہ ہے کہ ان ملازمین کا تعلق صدارتی سیکریٹریٹ، وزیراعظم آفس، قومی اسمبلی، سینیٹ سیکریٹریٹ اور تمام اعلیٰ عدالتوں سے ہے حالانکہ اپنے مینڈیٹ کے مطابق ان اداروں کو مساوات، برابری اور میرٹ کو یقینی بنانا ہے۔

Police finally recover mobile phones of Zahir Jaffer, Noor - Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Investigators in Noor Mukadam murder case on Tuesday recovered mobile phones of the victim and the alleged killer, Zahir Jaffer.
A police officer close to the investigation told
Dawn on condition of anonymity that the mobile phones were recovered on information provided by the accused during interrogations.
On Monday, a duty magistrate had extended physical remand of the accused for two more days so that the police could recover mobile phones and other evidence linked to the case.
“He revealed the location of the mobile phones during interrogation,” the officer said. ....

Senate chair's election not for scrutiny, IHC told - Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The counsel for Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on Wednesday informed the Islamabad High Court that since the election to the top slot of the upper house was a part of parliament’s proceedings, it is not subject to judicial scrutiny.
Senator Syed Ali Zafar was arguing before a two-member bench of the IHC, headed by Justice Aamer Farooq, on a petition filed by former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani against the rejection of seven votes cast in his favour in the election.
Mr Sanjrani won the election after the presiding officer ruled that the seven votes were not valid since these were not stamped in a proper manner. ....
