His attempts to bring some light to some questions surrounding Ong Teng Cheong and Dr Tan Cheng Bock are hardly satisfactory. His memoirs â Tall Order and Standing Tall (the second volume just out) â represented the best opportunity for him to speak his mind on what happened, now that he is out of office for so long and in the twilight of his years. His words would have helped clear some of the toxic cobweb surrounding the fates of Ong and Dr Tan. But, regrettably, he either ducked the issues or, for lack of a better word, whitewashed them. ....
April 27, 2021 Mr Terence Soon ran in the 2020 general election as part of a five-person team. Progress Singapore Party SINGAPORE - The head of the Progress Singapore Party s (PSP) youth wing Terence Soon has quit the party as a member, citing job and family considerations. In a draft letter to PSP secretary-general Francis Yuen dated Monday (April 26), Mr Soon, who contested last year s general election, wrote: As I have been offered employment opportunities overseas, I feel that I would have no choice but to resign from PSP in order to secure a brighter future for my very young family. Mr Soon, 30, declined comment. Attempts to reach party chairman Tan Cheng Bock were unsuccessful, while Mr Yuen would only confirm the news, saying: Terence is leaving the party to pursue a career opportunity overseas. ....
- Advertisement - Singapore The Progress Singapore Party (PSP) has shared about their new Central Executive Committee (CEC) on Saturday (Apr 4). The party has reorganised the committee, with a total of 14 members. Dr Tan Cheng Bock is newly appointed as the Chairman of the party, with Mr Francis Yuen taking over the position of Secretary General. “Things are changing, and as the party grows, we need to make space to enhance the leadership” said Dr Tan during the press conference on the new CEC. “PSP is not ‘my party’, it is for Singaporeans”, Dr Tan said when addressing the issue of stepping back from the position of Secretary General, and letting Mr Yuen take charge. He added that the new team has matured, and should have the opportunity to use their strengths and skills to move forward. ....
Progress Singapore Party s (PSP) Tan Cheng Bock might have stepped down as the Secretary-General, but that doesn t mean he s out for the count, as was assured during a PSP press conference on Apr. 3. It was announced on Apr. 1 that Francis Yuen would be taking over Tan, as the Secretary-General following the appointment of the party s new Central Executive Committee (CEC). Yuen, who has a storied career in the field of aerospace engineering locally and in China, was previously the Assistant Secretary-General of PSP.
