Premium Content Subscriber only Cars have been washed away in fast moving floodwaters or left stranded submerged in Sunshine Coast waterways after days of heavy rainfall across the region. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and State Emergency Services crews have responded to multiple calls since 5am on Tuesday. A QFES spokesman said there had been four reports of vehicle-related incidents in flood water at Peachester, Glass House Mountains and Nambour. The spokesman said swiftwater crews had performed searches in three of the jobs and said all occupants of each incident were accounted for. He said crews responded to two jobs at the Glass House Mountains, one at Barrs Road and the other near Old Gympie Road and Mt Beerwah Road. ....

Queensland Police have set up traffic control as both northbound lanes of the busy stretch are blocked. The incident was reported about 11.05am near Kawana Island Blvd at Parrearra which has multiple emergency services on scene. A police spokesman said authorities were awaiting for a crane to arrive and that delays were to be expected. ....

Sunshine Coast dad Shane Farmer, 43, was on his final click of the day when he heard a crack from above. A waterlogged tree about 4m long came crashing down onto his head and knocked him into rocks and water below. The crack was the last thing he remembered before he regained consciousness while being stretchered out of the popular walking trial by about 15 emergency service personnel. Mr Farmer was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition about 1pm on Wednesday, February 3. ....

Fireball International, Helitak and McDermott Aviation have linked up to put world-first technology to use. Fireball International uses a series of artificial intelligence systems that collect and analyse data of ground based sensors, cameras and satellites to detect and report bushfires in less than three minutes after they start. Founder and CEO Christopher Tylor said every minute counted when it came to bushfires. “Currently, it takes approximately 45 minutes for a bushfire to be reported so our technology will significantly reduce the notification time in areas where our system is installed,” Mr Tylor said. ....
