Virtual casino-style games could be offered to Nova Scotians by the Atlantic Lottery Corporation as soon as this spring.(CBC)
Nova Scotia s sanctioned online casino could launch this spring.
The Atlantic Lottery Corporation launched a website specifically for New Brunswick last summer, with intentions of expanding to the other Atlantic provinces subject to sign-off from the respective governments.
According to a spokesperson for the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, costs incurred to develop online casino-style games will be shared by the provinces that offer the service.
Currently, it is estimated that Nova Scotia s cost will be $3.1 million, Jillian Moore said in an email. ....

The Nova Scotia government has announced $500,000 to support overdose prevention sites as part of the battle against opioid addiction in the province.
The sites allow drug users to inject drugs in a supervised, safer environment. On-site staff provide fresh needles and connect clients to treatment programs and other services.
Every overdose death is a tragedy, Health Minister Leo Glavine said in a news release Friday. ....

More Mental Health and Addictions Support for Nova Scotians

Community organizations across the province will be able to provide more mental health and addictions support to those in need with new government funding announced today, Dec. 11.
The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia will receive over $1.6 million, to be distributed as grants to organizations provincewide.
“The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has been incredibly challenging and has had an impact on many Nova Scotians’ mental health,” said Leo Glavine, Minister of Health and Wellness. “This investment will improve access to mental-health services and remove barriers for people across the province to get the help they need.” ....
