This new ordinance may help you [The Record, Stockton, Calif] Stockton businesses that can’t pay their rent due to financial hardships caused by COVID-19 are getting a reprieve. The Stockton City Council voted unanimously Tuesday at its first meeting of the year to implement a temporary citywide ban on commercial evictions for non-residential tenants that can provide landlords with documentation their businesses have suffered a substantial loss in income through forced closure or a decrease in sales or other business income due to the pandemic. A similar moratorium was implemented at the end of March when COVID-19 infections in the county were first ramping up. The city says the ordinance was allowed to expire two months later on May 31. ....
