Susan Brewer with paintings by Michael Gorman. Dan Grossman On Saturday, May 8, I stopped by the Evan Lurie Gallery in Carmel. The gallery has been a steady presence in the city since Nov. 2007, but now there was a âMoving Saleâ sign on the gallery window. Susan Brewer, a longtime Indianapolis artist based at the Stutz, where she has studio space, was seated behind the desk when I walked in. She told me that Lurie had just secured a new lease on a gallery space in Miami, Fla., where most of his client base is located. âIâm gonna miss this,â she said, referring to the gallery, where she has worked for three years, and her conversations with potential clients about art. ....

Millville has a new mayor, following the town councilâs reorganization at its Tuesday, March 9, meeting. Former Deputy Mayor Ronald Belinko has been named mayor. Steve Maneri had held the post since 2019, when then-Mayor Robert Gordon resigned because he was moving out of state. With Belinko as Millvilleâs new mayor, the rest of the council underwent a bit of a shuffle as well. Sharon Brienza, who had been the council treasurer, was nominated to serve as deputy mayor. Barbara Ryer, who had been council secretary, will replace Brienza as council treasurer. Millvilleâs newest council member, Robert Wisgirda, will serve as council secretary. Wisgirba was sworn in at the March 9 meeting, along with Brienza and Ryer, both of whom were appointed to the council two years ago to replace departing members Gordon and Susan Brewer. Wisgirda was appointed to replace Peter Michel, who did not file for re-election when his term was up this year. ....

It was certainly a time for youngsters to enjoy themselves, as these pictures show. Picture 1 was taken at East Oxford Liberal Club in 1970 as children scrambled for food to make sure they didn’t miss out. The party was delayed because builders were still working on the premises in Crown Street until the last few days before Christmas. ....
