Carlisle taps O’Donnell as new borough fire chief Updated May 18, 2021; Facebook Share Carlisle has a new borough fire chief. Randy O’Donnell succeeds Jeffrey Snyder, who is retiring after 7 ½ years in the post. O’Donnell currently is Shippensburg’s volunteer fire chief. O’Donnell’s career in the fire service began at age 9 at the West End Fire & Rescue Company in Shippensburg and he has served with several fire companies and emergency services organizations in Cumberland and Franklin counties since then. He is retiring as a battalion chief for emergency services at the Naval Support Activity near Mechanicsburg. “Accepting this position is the dream of a lifetime,” O’Donnell said of his new job. “I appreciate the opportunity to serve the citizens of Carlisle and the members of the Carlisle Fire Department. In early March, 29 strangers met for an event hosted by Missouri Humanities and KCUR on Zoom to do just that. Wendy Douglas of Joplin, Missouri, doesn’t identify with any party, but she opened the conversation by responding to the question “Is there something you want me to understand about you or your values?” I feel like if we take care of each of our trees, our forest will be great, she said.
