London air pollution: Campaigning teenagers put up warning signs

Teenage protesters living in some of London s most polluted areas have put up road signs to highlight the impact on people of colour.
Choked Up s campaign has been backed by more than 100 NHS medics.
The group want to prevent air pollution contributing to further deaths like that of nine-year-old Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah in 2013.
Signs bearing the slogan Breathing kills have been put up in Whitechapel, Catford and Brixton.
Choked Up co-founder Anjali Raman-Middleton, 17, said: The landmark ruling of the Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah inquest proved that the road I live less than five minutes from can kill. ....

Covid: Virtual ward monitors patients from homes in Sussex


A “VIRTUAL” Covid-19 ward which allows patients to leave hospital sooner, has been praised by patients and their families.
The ward is run by a team of specialist respiratory nurses who monitor the progress of patients remotely from across East Sussex.
It was set up in a matter of days and is a collaboration between clinicians, the East Sussex Healthcare Trust Covid incident centre and IT team.
So far, twelve patients have been supported on the ‘virtual ward’ with 125 hospital bed days saved.
Just one patient using the virtual war required readmission back to hospital.
A selected group of patients recovering from Covid were discharged early to their own home, with low flow oxygen via an oxygen concentrator and regular monitoring using a pulse oximeter. ....

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust offers new device to monitor Covid 19 at patients home

PATIENTS in South Cumbria will be welcomed to a new virtual hospital ward.
The ‘Pulse Oximetry at Home’ service is being provided by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and will be available for residents of Cumbria and Lancashire.
The home monitor service will be made available for people with positive Covid tests and who have been identified as clinically vulnerable to having low blood oxygen levels due to a pre-existing health condition.
A Pulse Oximeter is a small, lightweight device that is used to monitor the amount of oxygen carried in a person’s body. ....
