The 70p rise was one of a number of revenue-boosting measures signed off in the city councilâs annual budget last week. Users of Pound Lane car park will be met with a price increase from April 1 It means, from April 1, hourly rates in Watling Street and Queningate - the two car parks deemed the most in-demand - will be fixed just shy of £3. ....

Edward James, who has snapped up five parks at Eastchurch and two at Minster, said: The Island is on the up. It is the nearest resort to London and has some very pretty places. Digging foundations for luxury lodges at Eastchurch Holiday Centre Margate, Herne Bay and Whitstable have all been rejuvenated. Now people are working back towards London. Sheppey has a great future ahead of it. He has splashed out around £12m in total to buy up the parks. ....
Kent and East Sussex Railway launches fundraiser to survive after coronavirus pandemic | Updated: 14:47, 04 March 2021 An historic railway needs to raise £100,000 in four months in order to ensure its survival. The Kent and East Sussex Railway, which runs between Tenterden and Bodiam in East Sussex, is set to mark its 60th anniversary this year. The KESR has run steam trains on the line for more than 40 years. Picture: Stuart Kirk However the pandemic has seen it closed for much of the last year, with the steam railway saying it desperately needs £100,000 by July to recuperate the losses. Railway commercial manager, Andre Freeman, said: âItâs amazing to think that the K&ESR has been a preserved line for as many years as it was originally in operation, having opened in 1901 and closed in 1961. ....

Posing as a holidaymaker from London, our reporter Jack Dyson asked 45 of the websiteâs landlords across the Canterbury district if they would allow him to stay in their properties for a weekend getaway. Such breaks are currently illegal under government coronavirus restrictions, unless for essential reasons. But despite being told his two-night trip was purely for pleasure, 11 owners gave our man the green light, with some offering reduced prices and even admitting they have allowed others to holiday in the area. ....
