Alfred Duma municipality mayor Vincent Madlala s lawyer says he will take action against police for kidnapping his client.
Madlala was arrested for defeating the ends of justice and unlawful possession of firearms during a dramatic raid of his Ezakheni home.
His attorney, Justin Heunis, said Madlala was arrested without a warrant during the raid for his two sons.
Justin Heunis, the lawyer for Alfred Duma municipality mayor, Vincent Madlala, has threatened to take legal action against the police for what he said was kidnapping and police brutality following a violent police raid at his client s Ezakheni home on Friday.
CCTV footage of the incident, seen by News24, shows police forcefully entering the property before kicking and trampling on the heads of private security guards reportedly employed by the mayor.

Back then, Judge Norman Davis found that Sitole and his two deputies, Francinah Vuma and Lebeoana Tsumani, had placed the interests of the governing party, the ANC, ahead of those of the country and had thus been in breach of their duties.
“I know nothing about this thing. Nothing about the original case or when it was decided. I know nothing about when it was appealed the first time, the second time. I know nothing about the results. I only knew yesterday by chance that a decision was made on the 30th,” Cele told chair Tina Joemat-Pettersson.
Cele, while he might claim to know nothing about the merits of the original case, did, however, reveal on Wednesday that the matter would set the SAPS back about R1.8-million in legal fees.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) is investigating the circumstances around the death of a 33-year-old woman who was allegedly shot during a police raid in Lamontville, KwaZulu-Natal, on Friday.
“It is alleged that police officials were in Madlala informal settlement raiding the area for looted and stolen property from the recent unrest,” said Ipid spokesperson Ndileka Cola. “As alleged, the community members mobilised each other, blocked the exit points with stones, cut the tyres of police vehicle and attacked the police.”
The police allegedly fired warning shots and the woman was later found dead behind one of the shacks metres away from the road where the police were stationed.
