Ranchi: Former assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Banua Oraon will be awarded with the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry posthumously on Republic Day while assistant superintendent of police Kunal and sub-inspector Prakash Kumar Rajak have been selected for the Police Medal for Gallantry, according the list of awardees issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday. A total of 12 police personnel will be honoured by the Centre on Republic Day.
ASI Oraon was killed during an anti-Maoist operation in the foothills of Sukrilkuil mountain along the Seraikela-Khunti border in June, 2018 when some rebels opened fire.

DEHRADUN: Since the distribution of bottled Ganga water started pan India under project ‘Gangajal’ in 2016, it has been in high demand, with recipients saying they are grateful for the service as the holy water can now be accessed at a minimal price without having to travel all the way to Uttarakhand.
Priced at Rs 30 per bottle (including transportation), Ganga water, sourced from the river’s origin at the Gangotri glacier, is transported to 3,000 post offices under 22 postal circles in India.

Bhubaneswar, Jan 11: Sabita Acharya, Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University, laid the foundation stone of an examination hall cum multipurpose building here Monday.
The facility was built at an estimated cost of Rs 4 crore 52 lakhs and is funded by World Bank. Built on 26,000-sqft area, the double storey building will accommodate more than 300 students in the examination hall.
The Odisha State Police Housing Welfare Corporation Ltd is the construction agency engaged in the project.
Interacting with Orissa POST, Acharya said, “The building will be a state-of-the-art facility and will be an asset to the university. We are sure the timelines and qualitative standards will be adhered to and a dedicated exam hall would ensure smooth conduct of a number of exams being held in the varsity. A beautiful flower garden in front of the hall is also being planned.”
