The Biden administration on May 5 announced that it would support the waiver of those protections for vaccines “to expand vaccine manufacturing and distribution” around the world to end the pandemic. Experts, however, believe waiving patents wouldn’t resolve the vaccine shortage problem, due to the complexity of producing the mRNA-based vaccines. House Majority Whip John Mitchell, who made the motion to release the bill, had earlier expressed concerns about the additional costs it would impose on handgun buyers. Mitchell, an Elsmere Democrat and retired police officer, also said the bill should exempt retired law enforcement officers from the training requirement for more than obvious reasons. ....
