It is with great sadness and a most heavy heart that I share, my son Ian Matthew Glahn, age 53 died on Monday, February 8th 2021 at his home in Roswell NM. It is often said that the hardest thing in life is being a parent who loses a child. Age doesn’t matter, your child will always be your child.
He lived life exactly as he wanted to the very end.
Ian was born on December 7th, 1967 in Hayward, California. He graduated in 1986 from East Union High School in Manteca, California. In 1991 he moved to Roswell to be close to me and far from the bad path he felt he was going down. He was hired by Leprino Foods in 1995. I asked him if he knew how do the job he was hired for because it didn’t seem like he had the skills. That didn’t worry him, he would just ask a co-worker how they do a task and then pretend that he used to do it a different way and he liked their way better! It must have worked because he received his 25 year award ....

Planting seeds: New business aims to employ, help people in recovery


All Things Recovered was started by Sean Nicholson and Bradley Meadors, who own Solid Ground Recovery.
“In our travels, in our own experiences, our lived experiences with addiction and recovery, we’ve always talked about trying to find a way to employ people in early recovery,” Nicholson said. “There’s some burdens there that are hard to get over — hurdles that people with histories of legal issues or some have bad teeth or some have tattoos and things that cause them to not be able to present well in a work environment or in an interview.”
They also wanted to come up with an idea that didn’t require a lot of training or experience for employees.  ....

New Frederick Arts Council space a hub for exhibits, performances, artists


On East Second Street, inside a large red brick building, parishioners of Covenant Family Chapel used to meet regularly in a celebration of Christianity.
Now, the congregation has moved to Woodsboro, and the Frederick Arts Council and other community partners have taken over the space.
A projector and stage, along with space for artists, is on the first floor. Photographer Wing Young Huie’s large-scale photo exhibit, Golden Mile—In Focus, inspired area residents to bring their family items, including an old chair, clothes and other random objects.
In this file photo, a group poses with signs displaying various messages during a workshop last winter in March at Centro Hispano de Frederick. The photo is one of nearly 20 that was enlarged and put on display on exteriors of buildings along the Golden Mile as part of a public art project. Photos from the project are also on display at the new Frederick Arts Council facility on East Second Street downtown. ....
