Dew Tour to return to Copper Mountain Resort in December

Photo by Liz Copan / Summit Daily archives Mountain Dew and The Adventure Sports Network Group announced Tuesday, May 25, that the annual Winter Dew Tour competition and festival will return to Copper Mountain Resort from Dec. 16-19. The event’s return to Copper Mountain comes after it was canceled for the 2020-21 winter in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The most recent Winter Dew Tour took place in February 2020 and was the event’s debut at Copper Mountain Resort after years at Breckenridge Ski Resort. The mid-December date is also a return to the event’s traditional calendar spot in Breckenridge.

Adeline Gray Olympics Favorite Colorado Wrestler Interview

The list of amazing athletes born or based in Colorado is impressive. Winter sports standouts who lived here during the height of their fame include alpine skiers Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin, as well as snowboarder Red Gerard and many others. And the state also has a proud legacy of incredible swimmers, thanks to the likes of Amy Van Dyken and Missy Franklin. Adeline Gray absolutely deserves to be in such august company: She s among America s best hopes to bring home a gold medal at the upcoming Summer Olympics, scheduled to get under way on July 23 in Tokyo following a year-long delay necessitated by the rise of COVID-19. But even though the thirty-year-old is a native Coloradan who competed in high school sports throughout the Denver area and currently resides in Colorado Springs, home of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center, many hard-core sports fans in this state have never heard of her.

Ready or not, skateboarding takes its show to the Olympics : The Asahi Shimbun

Jose Daniel Zapata Arisrizabal, of Colombia, practices during an Olympic qualifying skateboarding event at Lauridsen Skatepark, May 19, in Des Moines, Iowa. (AP Photo) DES MOINES, Iowa The hotel door opens and, fast as that, the sound of polyurethane clicking across concrete begins. The rhythmic grrrr-chk-chk-grrrr-chk-chk-grrrr-chk-chk sound of wheels scooting over cracks in the sidewalk is a telltale sign that something is different in Des Moines. Skateboarders have taken over Middle America this week. It’s a dress rehearsal for this summer, when they’ll bring their show to the rest of the world at the Olympics. The questions under the magnifying glass at this week’s Dew Tour one of the last major qualifying events for the Tokyo Games in July are whether the Olympics is ready for skateboarding and, more tellingly, whether skateboarding is ready for the Olympics.
