GUWAHATI: A day after BJP legislators raised doubts about Akhil Gogoi’s health and demanded that he be put back in jail, Akhil’s party Raijor Dal hit back at BJP legislators and appealed to the Assam government to release him as he is an elected legislator and has duties to fulfil.
When Akhil reached the Assam legislative assembly for his swearing-in ceremony as Sivasagar MLA on Friday, three BJP legislators raised questions over Gogoi’s “bad health, as he appeared to be completely healthy” to them, and also said there was “no need for the Assam government to waste money on his treatment and he should be sent back to jail instead”.
