Return of city parking enforcement causes issue for sheriff's office

CHILLICOTHE- With jail construction ongoing at the Ross County Jail and city parking enforcement back in full swing, the Ross County Sheriff s Office has had trouble finding parking.
The construction at the jail had previously caused the Road Division to move from the lot behind the county jail, making room for employees that work at the jail and reducing the parking problem while construction is ongoing, according to Sheriff George Lavender.
But with meters going active again, deputies may have to pay to park, said Lavender in a meeting with commissioners Monday morning.
Parking enforcement returned to Chillicothe earlier this month in an effort to create better traffic flow downtown, reducing hazards, preventing vehicles from monopolizing limited parking spaces and creating turnover to maximize the number of visitors, as previously reported by the Gazette. ....

One Person Shot During Argument in Chillicothe, Sunday

One person was taken to hospital Sunday as the result of a shooting in Chillicothe.
According to Chillicothe Police, officers were called to the area of Second and North Sugar streets shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday on a report of a fight involving a gun. At the scene they found a male subject with a gunshot wound to his neck area. The victim was taken to Adena Regional in Chillicothe but was later transported to Grant Medical in Columbus with non-life threatening injuries.
The person shot during the incident was not identified in the department’s release and there was no mention of a suspect. ....

A 50-year-old Carrollton man is facing a felony for allegedly attempting to allude law enforcement on Friday, April 30.
According to a report from the Carrollton Police Department at approximately 4:30 p.m. on April 30, an officer observed a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle that had eluded Officers earlier in the week. When the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle, the driver accelerated and refused to stop. The officer reports that the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed while she was pursuing him through the Town of Carrollton, failed to stop at stop signs and struck an AT&T phone box causing property damage. ....

CPD investigating shooting where man shot in neck area

CHILLICOTHE - The Chillicothe Police Department was dispatched to the area of Second Street and North Sugar Street around 5:41 p.m. Sunday in response to a fight involving a gun.
Upon arrival officers located a male that was shot in the neck area and was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center by the Chillicothe Fire Department. The male was later transported to Grant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to the news release.
