The owner of Beggs Pharmacy in Pryor operates a distributing company that was going to dispense Oklahoma’s supply of hydroxychloroquine for $1.05 per prescription, according to a member of Gov. Kevin Stitt’s coronavirus task force. However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration revoked its emergency use authorization of hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19.  ....

OKLAHOMA CITY -
Santa Fe South Charter School District superintendent Chris Brewster responded Friday to Oklahoma City Public Schools’ board of education unanimous decision to audit Santa Fe South earlier this week.
“Tonight, the Oklahoma City Public Schools Board of Education voted unanimously following an executive session to call for a special audit by State Auditor and Inspector, Cindy Byrd, of Santa Fe South Charter School for FY (fiscal year) 2018-19 and 2019-20 and any other years deemed necessary,” a statement from OKCPS said in part. “The purpose of the special audit requested is to determine compliance with statutes, rules, policies and internal control procedures. In light of comments shared at the OSDE Board of Education meeting on Friday, April 9, the Board felt this was an important step to take as an authorizer of Santa Fe South.” ....

It’s been a long, strange trip for Oklahoma’s $2.6 million shipment of hydroxychloroquine, bought a year ago as a once-promising treatment for COVID-19.
The 1.2 million doses of the drug normally used to treat lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and prevent malaria were shipped from a California distributor to a small pharmacy in Pryor, with the state paying for the hydroxychloroquine from money borrowed from fees generated by medical marijuana licenses. ....

Epic Will Take Control Of Its Learning Fund, Moves To End Termination Proceedings With Settlement

Epic Charter Schools’ governing board voted shortly after midnight Wednesday to reform its controversial learning fund.
Starting in July, the details of the fund will be available for public inspection for the first time.
The learning fund gives up to $1,000 to students who are enrolled in the school for educational purposes. In the previous five years, it’s accrued almost $80 million.
The move will solve a major issue of contention between the school and state auditor Cindy Byrd. She sued Epic in 2020 for access to the fund’s details, and the case is still being litigated.
Additionally, Epic’s school board set in motion a settlement agreement that would end its termination proceedings before its authorizer. That agreement would have to be voted on and signed by the Statewide Virtual Charter School Board. ....
