Documentary film Firestarter: The Story of Bangarra, which has picked up a number of accolades, will screen next Tuesday on ABC, during NAIDOC week. Celebrating Bangarra’s 30th Anniversary, this tells the story of how three young Aboriginal brothers Stephen, David and Russell Page turned a newly born dance group into a First Nations cultural powerhouse. Bangarra Dance Theatre, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, is Australia’s only Indigenous major performing arts company. Its development from a small dance group in Glebe, Sydney, in the late 80s to a company of international renown, was and is driven in large part by its Artistic director Stephen Page and his brothers, composer David Page and lead dancer Russell Page. ....

Throsby will join the ABC on 9 August from her role as Head of Talks and Ideas at the Sydney Opera House. She returns to the ABC having been series producer of Big Ideas from 2008-10 and a producer on programs such as Sunday Afternoon Arts, Q+A, Four Corners and Media Watch. Previous roles include Head of Curation for TEDxSydney and running Chequerboard Productions from 2002-17. She has a Doctorate in Philosophy from the School of Social Sciences at the University of NSW and Master of Arts in documentary directing, producing and writing from the Australian Film Television and Radio School. ....
