Foreign exchange students eager to return to Georgia next school year
Leaders decided to close Agatha s Taste of Mystery after losing guests during the pandemic.
ROME, Ga. - With many of Georgia’s schools putting a halt to their foreign exchange programs due to the pandemic, many international students’ dreams were put on hold.
However, with an end of the pandemic appearing to be in sight, they are planning a big return come September. An organization that helps the high schoolers come here said it is looking for families who want to host the students.
We have so many students this year that we are trying to place who especially wants to come to this area of Atlanta, said Renee Stanton, a community representative for the non-profit organization Ayusa. It’s so exciting. ....

Emergency workers risked their lives trying to keep one of history s worst nuclear crises from spiraling out of control. Proper equipment has now replaced ragged plastic hoses held together with tape and an outdoor power switchboard infested by rats, which caused blackouts. Radiation levels have declined, allowing workers and visitors to wear regular clothes and surgical masks in most areas. But deep inside the plant, danger still lurks. Officials don t know exactly how long the cleanup will take, whether it will be successful and what might become of the land where the plant sits. ....
