Since mid-April, a series of small earthquakes jiggled in a jagged area from Tennant in Siskiyou County down to Truckee in Nevada County, passing through Shasta County north of Shasta Lake and near Burney.
Most of the more than 100 earthquakes that hit the North State over the past 30 days were a magnitude of 2.0 or less on the Richter Scale meaning they are too small to be felt, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
But one of the latest quakes, 4.7 in magnitude, hit the Truckee area on Thursday night, the USGS reported. At that magnitude, it could be felt by a lot people in the area and miles away.

Top MSHS runner won it all in Cross Country – here s how he s preparing for track and field

Runner Drew Hering did nothing but win during Mount Shasta High School s recent cross country season. The Bear junior will attempt to continue his winning ways during the track and field season, which kicked off over the weekend.
Hering won all six races MSHS participated in. This includes placing first in the Shasta Cascade League Championships on March 19.
Hering s used to success: as a freshman runner and again his sophomore year, Hering made state in Division Five. He placed 74th as a freshman, and 59th as a sophomore. There was no state meet this season due to COVID-19.

Burney Falls doesn’t cascade it explodes. Each day, 100 million gallons of spring water burst from a 129-foot basalt cliff face and spill into a cerulean pool flanked by ponderosa pines. “If you’re there after a storm, you can’t even get close to [the falls],” says Zach O’Brien, founder of the outdoor travel news website Active NorCal. “The spray leaves you soaking wet, even on a sunny day.”

Kids will have a place to quickly ensure their hands are clean at Grenada Elementary School after Shasta Cascade Health Centers donated a sanitation station.
They are also supplying stations to Mt. Shasta Elementary and McCloud Elementary schools.
Shasta Cascade is a non-profit health provider that has served the local community since 2000. They have three clinics in McCloud, Dunsmuir, and Mount Shasta, as well as a dental center in McCloud.
“This donation will help so much, especially in this time of COVID-19,” said fourth grade teacher Sabrina Ellin, who helped with the project. “We have many systems and procedures in place for washing and sanitizing hands to keep our campus as clean and safe as possible. The neat thing about this sanitation station is that it is very light and portable.”
