Top MSHS runner won it all in Cross Country – here s how he s preparing for track and field Siskiyou Daily News Runner Drew Hering did nothing but win during Mount Shasta High School s recent cross country season. The Bear junior will attempt to continue his winning ways during the track and field season, which kicked off over the weekend. Hering won all six races MSHS participated in. This includes placing first in the Shasta Cascade League Championships on March 19. Hering s used to success: as a freshman runner and again his sophomore year, Hering made state in Division Five. He placed 74th as a freshman, and 59th as a sophomore. There was no state meet this season due to COVID-19. ....

We ve waited a long time : YHS Miners host first Cross Country meet of the season Siskiyou Daily News The Yreka Miners cross country team had a strong showing in its first home meet of the year on Wednesday. The Miners hosted Lassen High School in a Northern Athletic League Dual Meet. YHS opened the season the previous week against West Valley, where they took the top spot in three out of the four divisions. The Miners again took the top spot in three races: varsity girls and boys, and junior varsity boys. YHS didn t have any runners in the JV girl s race. ....
Here are the winners of YMCA s virtual Ugly Sweater Run Siskiyou Daily News If you noticed people walking or running around the community last week wearing colorful ugly sweaters or other holiday attire, you may have seen folks taking part in the annual Siskiyou Family YMCA Ugly Sweater Run. Due to COVID-19, the race was held virtually this year, with participants having three days to complete the 2-mile run/walk or 5-mile run. Noelle Collier, Health and Fitness Director for the YMCA, helped organize the event. She said 106 people signed up, which exceeded their expectations. Normally, around 120 or so people take part in the run, which is in its ninth year. ....
