A local television reporter is facing criminal charges for allegedly impersonating a police officer on several occasions last year.
Corey King, 27, of Roswell, and Roswell Bureau reporter for KRQE was issued a summons Wednesday on three counts of impersonating a peace officer and two counts of reckless driving, according to documents filed in Chaves County Magistrate Court.
The charges brought against King are the culmination of a months-long investigation by New Mexico State Police of instances between March and May 2020 in which King either dressed like a police officer or flashed lights on his vehicle during police pursuits. ....

Roswell police, aided by the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police, took a man into custody Saturday night after he reportedly led police on a high-speed pursuit during which he nearly collided with another vehicle.

Henry Walton, 48, of Roswell was detained by law enforcement shortly after 9:02 p.m. at an East Pine Lodge Road residence, according to documents filed Monday in Chaves County Magistrate Court.
Walton faces charges including aggravated fleeing of a law enforcement officer, reckless driving and failure to stop at a stop sign.
Court documents state a Roswell police officer encountered Walton at 8:31 p.m. Saturday when the officer, heading north on Atkinson Avenue, reportedly witnessed a white vehicle traveling southbound at 68 mph in a 35 mph zone. Two men from Hobbs are facing criminal charges after allegedly stealing a truck Saturday from outside a Roswell residence, hitting a mailbox and then fleeing law enforcement.

Kailen Gonsalves-Kamalii, 23, and Fernado Munoz, 22, were apprehended at separate locations Saturday night after the theft was reported, according to documents filed Monday in Chaves County Magistrate Court.
Munoz and Gonsalves-Kamalii were each charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
Gonsalves-Kamalii is also charged with one count each of criminal damage to property, under $1,000; leaving the scene of an accident, no bodily harm or death; failure to give immediate notice of accidents; and leaving the scene of an accident involving damage to vehicles. ....

Man faces charge of sexual contact with a minor | Roswell Daily Record


A man accused of sexually touching a teenage girl was arrested early Monday.

Stanley D. Stanbrough, 57, of Roswell, was charged with one count of criminal sexual contact with a minor, second degree, child under 13, unclothed, according to documents filed Monday in Chaves County Magistrate Court.
Police were notified in late November after relatives of the 13-year-old girl heard her tell another child that she reportedly awoke one night to find Stanbrough reaching into her pants. She said that since then he had touched her in a sexual manner on multiple occasions.
Court documents state that during a Nov. 27 forensic interview, she said that she did not know the specific date when Stanbrough is alleged to have first touched her sexually but that it was possibly sometime in the fall of 2019. ....

Man accused of shooting at vehicle arrested in Albuquerque

An Albuquerque man accused of pulling a gun on a woman in the parking lot of a Roswell convenience store and then firing several rounds at a vehicle was arrested Dec. 17 on an outstanding arrest warrant.
Steven January Perez, 29, was found by New Mexico State Police and apprehended in Albuquerque, according to Todd Wildermuth, public information officer with the Roswell Police Department.
Wildermuth said Tuesday he did not have more details about the arrest.
Police obtained a warrant Dec. 11 for Perez’s arrest on one count each of aggravated assault; shooting at or from a motor vehicle; and firearms or destructive devices, receipt, transportation or possession by a felon, according to court documents filed Dec. 16 in Chaves County Magistrate Court. ....
