Big East eliminates intraconference transfer policy
This was an expected move, albeit long overdue

With the passing of the NCAA one-time transfer rule earlier this year, conferences have been adapting and adjusting their own transfer rules, as well. The Big East became the most recent conference to do this on Thursday when the conference announced it would no longer prohibit athletes transferring between schools within the conference.
The rule was always confusing to many, especially with regards to men’s basketball. With so many Big East schools being in the same geographic proximity, there would always be a handful of players recruited by multiple schools in the conference. To limit where they could and could not transfer was something that felt unfair, especially considering other conferences had already gotten rid of the rule before this year.

UConn guard Paige Bueckers underwent surgery to repair an osteochondral defect on her right ankle Friday, the university announced.
Despite the surgery, Bueckers is expected to be ready for preseason play in September, per The Athletic s Charlotte Carroll.
As a freshman, the Huskies star joined Maya Moore as one of two women underclassmen to ever win the Wooden Award. Bueckers also earned the Associated Press Player of the Year honor as well as the Naismith Trophy following her freshman campaign.
Bueckers led UConn in scoring, averaging 20 points and 5.8 assists while shooting 52.4% from the field and 46.4% from three. She scored 20 points on 14 different occasions as a freshman and poured in 18 points in UConn s Final Four loss to Arizona on April 2.

The Dallas Wings and their fans should be soaring! With the first two picks in the 2021 draft, the Wings selected two potentially-generational bigs in Charli Collier and Awak Kuier.
Compared to the last big who went No. 1 in the draft A’ja Wilson (2018) Collier is not a surefire superstar. She notably struggled against higher-level competition in college. Yet, the potential is certainly there. Such potential might be there even more for Kuier, a 19-year-old who plays with enviable fluidity and poise. Sacrificing Katie Lou Samuelson in order to be able to acquire both Collier and Kueir, rather than having to settle for one of the two, was an absolute win.
