Main Street selling Mother’s Day Boxes

Main Street Portsmouth is selling their own personal Mother’s Day Box for the price of $75.00 this year.

PORTSMOUTH Main Street Portsmouth has removed all of the hard work of shopping, by putting together a box of gifts found from all over downtown, and other places, that mom, your wife, your favorite fur-mom will love.
The project is designed to get neat gifts into homes for the holiday, while also spending money downtown (and a few odd other local establishments). Main Street Executive Director, Joseph Pratt said that the boxes are filled with a ton of goodies valued more than $75 and are selling at that price. A Main Street Portsmouth volunteer will deliver the gift to your special someone at home or work, or the gift can be picked up at the Welcome Center the week of. ....

Scioto Foundation announces first quarter grants for 2021

PORTSMOUTH The Scioto Foundation has awarded grants totaling $105,756.54 to ten local nonprofit organizations for the first quarter of 2021.
The American Red Cross: Central Appalachian Region has received a grant of $10,000 from the Mary Ann Burke Fund to support disaster services through its preparedness, response and recovery programs in Scioto County. The funding will be used to provide direct financial assistance to residents impacted by disasters including home fires, to provide emergency housing for disaster survivors and to recruit, train and deploy Disaster Team volunteers.
The Boneyfiddle Project was awarded $4,000 from unrestricted funds to erect a sign at the west end of Second Street identifying the Boneyfiddle District in order to offer an attractive entryway to Portsmouth’s historic district from the west. The sign project is in keeping with the Boneyfiddle Project’s efforts ....

NEW BOSTON Local high school art students and their teachers from 11 Scioto and Jackson County schools created 24 portraits for children in Afghanistan as part of The Memory Project.
The Memory Project is coordinated locally by Sharee Price, Gifted Services Coordinator at the South Central Ohio Educational Service Center in New Boston.
Twenty-four portraits were created this year by students and teachers from Green, Minford, New Boston, Northwest, Notre Dame, Oak Hill, Portsmouth, South Webster, Valley, West, and Wheelersburg schools. ....
