Pakistan approves Rs 37.9 billion Pak-China OFC Project Phase II--China Economic Net


 
ISLAMABAD, Jan. 22 (Gwadar Pro) - Pakistan’s key decision-making body, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), Thursday evening approved Rs 37.9 billion worth Pak-China Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) Project Phase II.
 
Phase-II of the “Pak-China Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) Project for Establishment of Cross-Border OFC Network (Khunjerab-Karachi) Along China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Routes” was approved at the total cost of Rs 37.9 billion. 
 
The project will provide alternate path for international connectivity through Northern Border of Pakistan with China and would transform Pakistan as a Digital Gateway of regional connectivity. 
 
The COVID-19 response and other Natural Calamities Control Program was approved by the ECNEC at the cost of Rs 70 billion as federal share, said the statement.  ....

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq on Thursday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan considers the prosperity of Bani Gala the PTI leader s residence near Islamabad as Pakistan s development.
Speaking at the Ittehad-e-Ummah Conference organised in memory of former JI chief, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Haq said the Pakistani nation had become orphaned, criticising PM Imran Khan over his residence, for the regularisation of which he had last month paid a fine worth a whopping Rs1.21 million. ....

LAKKI MARWAT: Taking a dig at Prime Minister Imran Khan, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Senator Sirajul Haq Sunday said a dull student was failing the exam despite cribbing.
Addressing a public gathering here, he said the PTI government had failed to deliver in the last two and a half years despite that the fact that a powerful institution was supporting it.
“Why Prime Minister Imran Khan had agreed to run the country’s affairs if he wasn’t prepared for it?” he asked. It was the 6th rally of the JI’s ongoing movement against the policies of the PTI. A large number of people, holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans in favour of Islamic revolution, participated in the rally. Siraj said the JI will stay away from the PDM politics because it represented the status quo forces. He vowed to continue struggle for turning Pakistan into a real Islamic welfare state. ....

LAKKI MARWAT: Launching a movement for the rights of the southern districts, Jamaat- i-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Sunday vowed to get justice for the people of far-off areas.
Addressing a public gathering at Qilla Ground in Sarai Naurang, he said that the southern districts, including Kurram, Orakzai, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan were rich in natural resources but being exploited by others, terming it an injustice with the people of this belt.
He said that an Islamic system was required to ensure the provision of justice to the people. “We are ready to go to any extent to secure the interests of the poor people,” he said. Sirajul Haq lamented that work on the construction of Kurram Tangi dam, provision of gas, Women University could not start over the last 25 years. ....
