The NHA contractors did not get payments for the last three months because of non-release of funds and as a result they adopted a policy of either go-slow or abandoned the infrastructure projects, including those being executed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). ....

Ecnec approves Rs70b healthcare package Peshawar January 23, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) has approved healthcare projects worth Rs70 billion. The decision was taken during an Ecnec meeting with Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh in the chair on Thursday. According to a report, the project includes a national health upgrade, a national programme for water and sanitation and hygiene, natural calamities control, and novel coronavirus interventions for less developed areas. Taking to Twitter, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said this is “the largest healthcare project ever done by [a] federal government”. He said the project includes Rs45 billion for new healthcare facilities, Rs7 billion for national health surveillance, Rs13 billion for water and sanitation and hygiene, and interventions in less developed areas. ....
